I Wish to Forget Your Face.

Upon my window seal I sit gazing -
always gazing, always thinking
always trying - trying to put together the pieces
of who and what we are -
what I am.
Flesh and bone is not enough.

As I pour myself a drink and bask in your company,
I feel space and time coincide and we are together.
All the stars of the midnight sky -
twinkle in your eyes
and we are one.
They will question it,
fight it,
try to break us apart -
try to knock the stars from the sky,
But I will stay gazing at them - in your eyes.

Your beauty conflicts
with what I know is right.
My soul is used to being tortured -
so you take advantage of me and my love.
I will always crawl back to you,
you take me in with a hug and kiss -
that kiss that has already absorbed my soul,
but I want more.
That kiss that tears open my chest -
the pain I feel is nothing short of euphoric,
and as you reach for my heart -
to make me yours -
I see the stars leave your eyes.
They were right to question it,
fight it,
try to break us apart;
For you are not my solar system,
you are not my stars,
I am not space and you are not time.

And even after a year -
you've left damage.
My soul is mine.
My heart is my heart.
My mind is open -
this hallucinogenic state
has opened my thoughts.
I'm one with the universe.
So as I gaze from my window seal,
always thinking -
always trying to put together the pieces -
of who and what we are,
I know I'm not you.
